There are 3 parts under the balance tab addressing causes of instability.
Part 1
addresses the top 10 reasons, in my experience as a physical therapist, that can cause balance problems in people with parkinson’s.
Part 2
discusses postural instability in more depth. Postural instability is an unsteadiness an individual may experience when simply standing. The direction of instability is predominantly in the backward direction. This video shows how you can make adjustments to be more stable in standing.
Part 3
At least 30% of people with Parkinson’s have orthostatic hypotension (drops in blood pressure). It can be a cause of instability, falls and cognitive impairment. People with Parkinson’s are not routinely screened for this and therefore undiagnosed. There are many interventions to help these individuals. This is an educational video to help increase awareness and learn what you can do to minimize symptoms.
